Renew before it expires
You can renew up to 9 months before expiry. Unused months are added to your new passport. Don't wait until the last minute.

The gov.uk app lets you take your passport photo on your phone. Saves £5-10 vs a photo booth.
Check expiry rules for travel
Many countries require 6 months validity on arrival. If your passport expires within 6 months of your trip, renew now.
Avoid summer rush
Processing times stretch to 10+ weeks in summer. Apply in autumn/winter for faster turnaround (often 3-4 weeks).
